In March, the world produced 147.5 million tons of steel, down 6% from the same period last year, according to a report released by the world iron and Steel Association.
According to the report, in March this year, Asian countries produced a total of 105.7 million tons of steel, a year-on-year decrease of 4.1%; European Union countries produced 12.03 million tons of steel, a year-on-year decrease of 20.4%; North American countries produced 9.66 million tons of steel, a year-on-year decrease of 9.4%; CIS countries produced 8.26 million tons of steel, a year-on-year decrease of 6.2%; Russia produced 5.85 million tons of steel, a year-on-year decrease of 4.4%; other European countries (Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia) 3.39 million tons of steel were produced in the two countries, with a year-on-year increase of 1.9%; 3.3 million tons in South America, with a year-on-year decrease of 9.4%; 3.35 million tons in the Middle East, with a year-on-year increase of 9.7%; nearly 1 million tons in Africa, with a year-on-year decrease of 22.4%; 413000 tons in Oceania, with a year-on-year decrease of 12.9%.
According to the report, 44303 million tons of Communist steel were produced worldwide in the first quarter of this year, a year-on-year decrease of 1.4%, the report said. Among them, Russia produced 17.9 million tons of steel, a year-on-year decrease of 1%; China produced 234.45 million tons of steel, a year-on-year increase of 1.2%.
